Some people don’t consider getting their carpets cleaned to be a priority. They feel that paying professional carpet cleaners is a luxury that only rich people can afford to do so. That is a big misconception though, because keeping carpets cleaned is a necessity not a luxury. It’s needed not just for keeping up appearances but for staying safe and healthy as well.
There are health problems that have long been associated with dirty carpets. To help you become more familiar with those health issues here are some of them:
Mould- If there is one thing that any homeowner should be afraid of, then it has to be mould. This form of fungi thrives in damp places. They can send out pores which get airborne. These tiny particles can cause allergic reactions in humans and other animals. The effects of mould on the human body is varied but in some cases it can be very severe and even fatal This is the reason why mould growth should be prevented at all costs. Mould can grow on the unexposed side of the carpet and that it why it should be regularly cleaned.
Athlete’s Foot- While not life threatening, this health issue can be embarrassing annoying and itchy. This can be caused by the countless number of germs that could be thriving on the surface of a carpet. They can enter the foot by small openings there.
Pet Dander- These are the hair, body oil and skin of animals that has been shed off. That is a perfectly normal body function and even humans do it. These can be trapped on the surface of the carpet which is like a magnet for this sort of material. The problem is that a great number of people are allergic to it and they can have some serious problem dealing with its effects.
Asthma- A study has been conducted which confirms the fact that carpet that is dirty and damp can increase the incidence of asthma. Asthma is triggered by tiny particles that can cause an allergic reaction in the respiratory or other system of the body. While normally not life threatening, it can be a serious inconvenience.
Dust Mites- These miniscule insects thrive in the environment of dirty carpets. That is where they find an abundant source of food. As they die their bodies can be inhaled by people causing allergic reactions.
These are just five of the most common health issues associated with dirty carpets.
